Ashlyn Pounders 1st Homework Assignment

I used different colors to divide each of the categories to make it easier to read.
I made each type of food in a larger font so it was easier to read.
I put my name in the center and large so it was easy to read. Sorry it's hard to read. It looked brighter on my computer.
I changed each day into a different color so it was easier to distinguish which day was which.

Chance McCullough-Assignment 1

Grocery List: I tried to group items by locations in the grocery store. I tried to put the refrigerated and frozen goods last so they would no sit in the shopping cart for too long.
Menu: I wanted my menu to be crisp so I tried to keep fonts at a minimum. The blue background was just for fun.
Event Schedule: I thought that this handout had a lot of information so I tried to make the major points stand out, such as the day, time, and session that would be taught that day.
Business Card: I tried to make each grouping standout on the card and look crisp by using 3 font variations. I made sure that the name on the card received the most attention. The picture was just for fun.

Business Card - I used a picture of a cupcake as the focal point of my card and the icing on the picture points to the name of my business which is done in a large colorful font then "cupcakes" is done in a smaller font to draw the eye down. The eye then goes down to the address of my business and my name.

Menu- I did a centered menu with the name of the cafe at the top in a large colorful font to draw the eye   directly to the top of the menu with smaller font drawing the eye down. I then used a larger font for the headers of the menu then smaller colored font to show the description of the header and to use it to break up the info before the eye moves downward into the menu options.

Moving list- I used a large colorful font centered at the top of the page as the header for my moving list. I then broke up all the info into four columns using large colored font as the headers and a different smaller font for the listing themselves.

My Business Card

Sydney Threet Assignment 1

Student Media Training: I used a bold font for the heading and for each day to better separate the days. I used a smaller, more casual font for the activities for the day, Bolded and underlined the individual activities, bolded the time, date and speaker and left the other details plain. I added boxes around the individual days to even further separate the days out.

Grocery List: I made the title bold and a little humorous because I love grocery shopping and I'm weird. I organized the foods by where they are in the store and by what category they fall under. I made each category red to increase separation of category and member of category. I added open square bullets so that I could check off each item as I put it in my basket.

Sideroom Cafe: I tried to make the menu as simple as possible so that it is easy to follow and read. I made the name of the restaurant big and bold, but not overpowering. I also enclosed it in a box to further separate it from the menu items. I made the categories of food bold and bigger then everything else in the category, and I made the description of what comes with each category bigger than the individual items as well. I underlined the names of individual items and italicized the descriptions of the items to separate an item from a description. I also added a picture of a cafe to fill up an awkward white space.

Business Card: I made the card using the Her Campus logo and Pink, which is the Her Campus color. I chose the font I chose because Her campus is a media site, and I thought the font looked something media-like from the 1980s. I thought it looked clean visually and still fun, which represents Her Campus because Her Campus has great articles that always have a light-hearted tone.

Assignment One 1/24/12

Business card: I made my name the largest to attract the eye. My contact information and business address were in opposite corners, diagonal from each other to draw the eye from top to bottom or vice versa.
Grocery list: The grocery list is sorted into types of food for ease of finding in the store.
Event: Divided by days with events titles in larger font. There is a lot of white space, but I just noticed that while typing :)
Menu: Deleted somewhere in transition.

Assignment 1

I had the same problem as Sydney.
Menu: I used differing font sizes to note the importance of each thing in the menu:
headings>entres/drinks>description
Grocery List: Since grocery lists are typically simple, i tried to keep it that way, I underlined the aisles that I'd go to for the items and listed them accordingly.
Business card: I used proximity where my name was the largest and most important, then contact info, then catchy quote about the business.
Student media: I centered each day, made the events bold and italicized the sun headings
